ORTHOMERICA® INTRODUCES THE COSMIC SPINAL SYSTEM The COSMIC Spinal System is the newest member of Orthomericas extensive family of prefabricated, semi-custom, and custom orthoses. The COSMIC is a multi-functional, modular orthosis that addresses spinal control from the acute phase through rehabilitation, and can be transformed into a variety of orthoses throughout the recovery period. During the acute phase, the Scapular Thoracic Extension (STE) provides thoracic and lumbar control. As the patient progresses, the components can be changed into a thermoplastic standard LSO, a low profile LSO, and finally an orthopedic grade compression orthosis. The versatility of this system not only provides patients with the most comprehensive spinal orthosis on the market, but is cost effective for patients, orthotic facilities, and third party payors. The COSMIC includes Orthomericas popular Compound Closure System, featuring a one-handed adjustable pull-tab for increased or decreased compression. The overlapping and interlocking anterior and posterior shells provide uniform circumferential coverage and control. All components are adjustable and interchangeable. The COSMIC
Spinal System package comes complete with the following: An anterior thoracic extension (ATE) with shoulder straps or a strap kit can be added to the STE to encourage thoracic extension and rotational control.
