ORTHOMERICA® INTRODUCES THE STARlight™ BI-VALVE CRANIAL REMOLDING ORTHOSIS

The STARlight™ Bi-valve from Orthomerica® is the latest member of the STAR™ family of cranial remolding orthoses. Orthomerica recognizes the need to offer a variety of cranial remolding orthoses—each designed to effectively treat specific head shape deformations.

Orthomerica’s STARband™ and new STARlight™ Bi-valve cranial remolding orthoses are used for the treatment of deformational plagiocephaly, brachycephaly, scaphocephaly and other head shape deformations in infants 3 to 18 months of age.

Like the original STARband™, the new STARlight™ Bi-valve:

• Can be fabricated from a positive modified cast, unmodified cast, or scan of the infant’s head using the STARscanner™.
• Is fabricated in only 3 to 4 days.
• Provides total contact over the prominent areas of the infant’s skull and leaves a void over the flattened areas to facilitate more normal skull symmetry.
• Received 510(k) clearance from the FDA.

The STARlight™ Bi-valve:
• Is fabricated with clear thermoplastic material.
• Allows visual feedback of fit and function.
• Is ideal for the correction of scaphocephalic head shapes by providing anterior-posterior directed contact.
• Offers multiplanar adjustability for precise application of corrective forces
• Eases donning and doffing.
• Is an effective alternative for infants with poor heat tolerance.
• Uses hypoallergenic materials to minimize potential skin irritations.
