UPS shipments during the holidays

Dear Customer,
As you may already know, Black Friday and Cyber Monday online shopping caused record volume shipping for UPS which impacted their on-time delivery performance.
When this happens, UPS may not scan their air packages in order to get them on the plane. As a result, Orthomerica may not be notified of these delays until after the time they should be delivered to your company. UPS has informed us that they believe these two days were an anomaly and acknowledge the shipment delays were not caused by Orthomerica.
While UPS apologizes for these delays, Orthomerica is proactively working with our customers to inform them about these possible shipping delays along with offering credit for UPS Overnight and 2nd Day Air packages that miss their window of delivery as defined by the carrier. This *window is as follows:
  • UPS Next Day Air – Packages to be delivered by 10:30 am. Holiday restrictions add a 90 minute window so the new service window is no later than noon.
  • 2nd Day Air – Packages to be delivered by close of scheduled business day
  • Additional one day time-in-transit requirements for AK, HI and PR from November 20 – December 30 for ground/standard packages.  All UPS 2nd Day and UPS 3 Day select packages delivered December 18-19 will require an additional day in transit. UPS 3 Day Select packages tendered on December 19th will be delivered after Christmas.
