The
STARband Cranial Remolding Orthosis
The
STARband from Orthomerica is a custom cranial remolding orthosis used
to treat deformational plagiocephaly, brachycephaly and other head shape
deformities in infants 3-18 months of age. Orthomericas STARband
was the first FDA cleared cranial orthosis available to orthotists for
use in their own practices. Thousands of infants have been successfully
treated with the STARband cranial remolding orthosis since its introduction.
Orthomerica offers its customers unprecedented support and expertise with
a staff of skilled technicians, an on-site certified orthotist, and two
clinical education managers.
| |
STARbands
can be fabricated from a positive modified cast, unmodified cast,
or a scan of the infants
head using the STARscanner. |
| |
The
STARband provides total contact over the prominent areas of the skull
and leaves a void over the flattened areas to facilitate more normal
skull symmetry. |
| |
Treatment
generally takes 3 - 4 months, but varies depending on the patients
age and severity of cranial asymmetry. |
| |
Clinical
consultation is available through Orthomericas
staff of ABC certified orthotists. |
| |
STARband
literature is available for practitioners, referring physicians, patient
families, and caregivers. |
