Prerequisite for ordering STARband Cranial Products

Orthotists and Prosthetists throughout the United States are receiving referrals for cranial remolding orthoses and are interested in learning as much as possible about this group of young infants. This course will provide access to clinical information so that the practitioner can provide quality care and the best outcomes possible for infants with Deformational Plagiocephaly and other head shape deformities.

Course Competencies

  • The Learner must pass an exam consisting of 74 questions, answering 60 (80%) correctly to pass
  • The Learner must submit a sample cranial scan, as according to the user’s manual of the scanner being used to [email protected] with a subject line of “CPC Test Scan”
  • The Learner must take a series of clinical pictures of a live test subject based on the guidelines described in the Patient Evaluation & Assessment chapter of the course presentation
  • Learner must submit accurate anthropometric measurements of the test subject

Please Note: If you do not have access to a scanner or a test subject, you may request a foam head mold to cast and use as a model. If casting, the learner must submit pictures of the cast impression and measurements of the foam head model, based on one of the casting methods provided in the course. Cast impression must pass grading criteria.

Tuition for the course is $200. Tuition is payable by check, credit card or may be billed to your existing Orthomerica account. Once your registration is processed you will receive an email granting access to the on-line materials and exam.

After successful completion of the course, 14 Continuing Education Units will be awarded to qualified practitioners by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics, Inc. Passing learners will be issued a certificate of completion by email.
